WILDERNESS RETREAT

Nestled amidst scenic landscapes, this captivating two-story sharehome welcomes backpackers working in the surrounding horticultural farms with open arms.

Celebrating both private and communal living, our six spacious bedrooms and a dedicated study area strike the ideal balance between social interaction and solitude.

The sun-drenched, open-plan living area on the lower level exudes warmth and friendliness, and the adjoining rustic timber kitchen stands ready for shared culinary adventures. Here, locally sourced farm-fresh produce can come to life in delicious meals. Also on this floor are two inviting bedrooms and a bathroom complete with a spa, promising a relaxing haven after a long day's work.

The sunroom, a tranquil nook opening up to a lush, private backyard, serves as the perfect stage for enriching conversations over a steaming cup of tea or your favourite book.

Upstairs, four more welcoming bedrooms await, one with its private balcony, offering a tranquil retreat with a sweeping view of the backyard. The built-in study area provides a serene spot for those continuing their educational or professional pursuits.

Our fully furnished and beautifully decorated home is currently a thriving hub for a community of travellers, but the allure doesn't stop at the doorstep.

Step outside to discover a carport with a roller door, ample off-street parking, and eco-friendly solar panels. The private entertaining area and the relaxing front verandah serve as enchanting outdoor spaces for leisurely moments under the open sky.

Nestled next to the Don Reserve walking trails and the Devonport Aquatic Centre, the location offers a refreshing mix of work, leisure, fitness and adventure, perfect for an enriching backpacker lifestyle. Immerse yourself in the charm of our Wilderness Retreat and discover the perfect backdrop for your backpacking journey.

The Don Reserve is a peaceful and stunning bushland reserve featuring paved and sawdust walking tracks near and beside the Don River.

The Reserve borders the Don River and contains 32 hectares of Black Gum forest, seven hectares of Swamp Paperbark and 16 hectares of Coastal Black Peppermint. These species are poorly preserved in other parts of the state so their importance here is not to be underestimated. A great place to see birds, with over 70 species recorded, 20 more than for most similar reserves in Tasmania, including the rare Swift Parrot. This has come about by habitat improvements, loss of habitat elsewhere and the geographic location of the Reserve being the eastern most extent of some species and the western most extent of others. The estuary is ever changing with  tides that vary over three metres.
